National Ablepreneurs Day launches...

National Ablepreneurs Day launches on the 16th of September to celebrate disabled entrepreneurs, freelancers and creatives across the UK

On 16 September, businesses, organisations and communities across the UK will come together to celebrate National Ablepreneurs Day, an annual awareness day recognising the innovation, resilience and achievements of disabled entrepreneurs, freelancers and creatives while challenging perceptions of disability in business.

Founded by Helen Louise Pugh, National Ablepreneurs Day was created to shine a spotlight on the thousands of disabled people who are successfully running businesses, creating employment, driving innovation and making a significant contribution to the UK’s economy.

The day seeks to challenge outdated assumptions around disability by highlighting what is possible when barriers are removed and opportunities are created. While disabled entrepreneurs often face additional challenges in starting and growing a business, from accessibility barriers to unequal access to finance, they continue to demonstrate remarkable creativity, determination and resilience.

An “Ablepreneur” is someone who is living with a disability, chronic illness or long-term health condition while building and growing their own business, work path or professional creative practice. For many, these entrepreneurial paths offers the flexibility to work around their health, but it also requires navigating obstacles that many other business owners never encounter.

Helen Louise Pugh, founder of National Ablepreneurs Day, believes greater visibility is key to creating lasting change. Her own health and business journey is testament to her belief that ability doesn’t disappear with illness it just needs the right environment to shine

National Ablepreneurs Day aims to:
•Celebrate the achievements and successes of disabled entrepreneurs, freelancers & creatives

•Raise awareness of the barriers many disabled business owners continue to face.

•Challenge stereotypes surrounding disability and entrepreneurship.

•Inspire others living with disabilities or long-term health conditions to pursue self employment and business ownership.

•Encourage businesses, organisations and policymakers to create more inclusive opportunities for entrepreneurs of all abilities.

Throughout the day, Ablepreneurs from across the UK will be sharing their stories, experiences and successes, demonstrating that disability is not a barrier to ambition, innovation or business excellence.

The campaign invites members of the public, businesses, media organisations and supporters to join the conversation, celebrate disabled entrepreneurs and help amplify the voices of those who continue to redefine what entrepreneurship looks like.

National Ablepreneurs Day takes place annually on the 16th of September.

Together, we can celebrate ability, challenge perceptions and create a more inclusive future for entrepreneurship.
