This year’s Great North Dog Walk was due to happen on Sunday the 5th of June.
Unfortunately due to recent surgery, ill health, pandemic and lack of sponsorship, the founder and event organiser, Tony Carlisle has had to cancel this year’s event.

Tony who is the UK Fundraiser of the Year 1991, 2015 & 2020, is hoping to hold the event’s 30th Anniversary in 2023. The event has raised over £8.5 Million pounds for local charities over the years and he would dearly love to continue supporting his local community.
In 2018 the event was supported on the day with over 50,000 people and 33,147 dogs.

It would be sad to see this, the World's Largest Dog Walk as recognised by Guinness World Records to no longer exist.

The New Crown Hotel on the South Shields sea front has The Running (topiary) Dog to celebrate the Great North Dog Walk & the Running (topiary) Man to celebrate the Great North Run .
