Wag & Company wins Purina's BetterWithPets Prize
Wag & Company is one of three winners of this year's Nestlé Purina BetterwithPets Prize and has been awarded a grant of 75,000 euros over two years!
Purina's BetterwithPets Prize recognises the work of organisations and social entrepreneurs who help improve the health and wellbeing of people in vulnerable situations through harnessing the pet-human bond. It's part of Purina's pledge to improve the health and wellbeing of 1,000,000 people in vulnerable situations by 2030.
Wag was selected from 150 applicants from all across Europe!
Wag and Company are very proud and incredibly grateful to the panel at Nestlé Purina PetCare Europe, and they are honoured to be selected alongside two inspiring charities: ACADIA – Chiens d'Assistance pour Diabétiques and 100% LIFE (Zaporizhzhia).
This award is a testament to the unique impact of the 450 Wag volunteers and their special dogs, who give their time and kindness to vulnerable older dog lovers across the North East experiencing challenging times, at home, in care or hospitals and hospices.
It's also a testament to everyone who has supported Wag and Company financially, many of whom have been with them since the very beginning in 2016. Everyone’s support has been essential to Wag's development and growth, helping them change people's lives, one special visit at a time.
Wag and Company are there 365 days a year for their volunteers and older friends, and they rely entirely on volunteers, fundraising and partnerships to deliver this work safely and free of charge.
One of Wag and Company’s older friends told them, "Loneliness is a terrible disease you just can't get rid of", but Wag and Company can help! Their mission remains to ensure that no older dog lover in their region misses human friendship and the company of a dog.
