Hi Pals,
Let's talk Pipicans, one of my favourite Spanish inventions. Well not so much an invention as we would call them dog parks but a Spanish 'thing' even so. Here in the UK, and especially my home town of Brighton, dogs can play in any park and almost all of the beach but in Spain it's not the case. There, and more so Andorra, dogs are not prohibited in parks.... which leads to Pipicans, special dog parks just for us hounds! They're nearly always fenced, nearly always have free poo bags and are always full of quality sniffs and dogs running amok. The smallest I've been in was in La Massana, Andorra which was literally a cat litter box, the largest in San Pedro Pescador which was an enormous field with special long grassy areas.

Campsites have them, beaches have them and all us hounds happily obey the 'wait 'til the Pipican' chant! In Pineda de Mar on the Costa Brava I found the best equipped yet. A human drinking fountain had a mini dog fountain at the base and their was a cylindrical dog wash, like a human shower, to wash the sand off. Elaine was hugely impressed with this, me not so much. I wouldn't even go near it for a photo, I've learnt my lesson from Spanish campsite dog baths.... in fact the Spanish appear to have an obsession with washing their dogs.

So my friends, if you ever find yourself need a wee or a stretch of the legs look for the nearest Pipican (preferably without a shower!)
