Duke visits Belton House, Lincolnshire
- May 2022

I love a trip out to a national trust property this time it's a visit to somewhere I have been before Belton house, Grantham, Lincolnshire https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/belton-house

The difference being the rules have changed and dogs are now allowed in the gardens. Star and I have a National Trust passport where you can collect stamps for each house that you visit and we already have the Belton house stamp in our passport book. As it was Easter the humans decided that is fur babies should do the Easter Adventures in nature challenge. After collecting the activity sheet we entered the gardens which are buggy/wheelchair friendly with ramps down to the ponds and then to the Orangery.

To complete each of the activities you had to look for Spades that we're buried in the ground.

Challenge six was to shake like a squirrel but us Greyhounds decided it was time to lie down.

Other challenges including taking a photo in the photo frame, listening to the bird and looking up at the clouds but as it was a sunny day there were no clouds to look at. After completing all 10 of the challenge the hoomans got in the queue and collected their prize which was a chocolate Easter egg but as you know chocolate is poisonous to us dogs so we got none.

It was now time to go for a coffee and a piece of cake. Here at Belton there is a dog friendly section of the café in the stables. As it was a lovely sunny day everyone was sitting outside so we had a section completely to ourselves so we made the most of it and spread out . Hoodad went in the house while we were chilling in the cafe  The logo of Belton house is a greyhound and apparently there are over 70 greyhounds in the house be it on pictures ornaments or even the legs of tables.

There is a longer walk (Belton Park Walk) up into the grounds where you can see sheep and deer in the park then round the edge of the golf course and back to the house this is 3.2 miles.

It’s well worth visiting and if you are a greyhound the staff will give you an extra walm welcome.

Until next time
