Review:
I'm nearly thirteen years old and like most dogs of my age, I have decaying teeth and tartar. It's not harming my teeth, gums or eating but my vet suggested clinical cleaning. Now, my owners weren't necessarily worried about costs if required but they were worried about unnecessary anaesthetics. Why would you put a twelve-year-old dog under for cosmetic cleaning? They politely said no and had a look around for toothpaste. I don't eat bones, I don't eat dental sticks and I'm not having a toothbrush in my mouth thank you very much - I'm a high maintenance hound!!

Coming across enzymatic toothpaste, a description online suggested that 'it's mere presence in the mouth can help reduce tartar and fight gum disease'. So, whilst brushing would be best, just having some toothpaste wiped on my teeth with a finger could help. Worth a shot for the £10 tub rather than an anaesthetic.

6 months later, after use every other day, and my teeth are greatly improved. I still have tartar but instead of very dark brown teeth, I now have brown teeth and even some almost spangly yellow! The vet now says that although I have a bit of decay, I don't need any clinical work and we also noticed the reception stocking the same toothpaste.

Rating:
10/10 Paws
So, the moral of my review is it's worth a shot. It may not help all dogs, and obviously you must always see a vet, but the toothpaste has definitely helped me and my teeth are greatly improved from 'the mere presence in my mouth'.
