Jason Guy

Tell me a bit about yourself.
My name is Jason Guy and I live in Wolverhampton and support Wolverhampton FC. At the age of 23 I formed my own business . I am a regular contributor to discussion on BBC Radio WM and recognised as their recruitment expert in the region. I also devote my time freely as a motivational speaker for the Princes Trust and act as a mentor for young entrepreneurs.

Could you tell me a little about the charities you help?
We support 3 charities, Breast Cancer Now following losing my last wife to the illness aged 33. RWT Neonatal Dept after them caring for my daughter and the 1P36 Family Trust as my daughter suffers from the rare genetic condition 1P36 chromosome deletion.

What is your role and how did you get involved?
I basically set out to raise £1000 by selling some wristbands at a local pub and it grew from there. We raised that money on the first weekend and now we are about to break through £350,000!

What other things have you done to raise money for these charities?
Some of the other things we have done to raise money are:
Cake sales, Sporting dinners, Golf days, Marathons, Quiz nights, Charity football matches, Developed a beer, Online raffles, a horse show, coffee mornings.

What are your goals for the charities?
The goals are to raise as much awareness and funds for each charity and simply make a difference. If we can put 1 day on a woman’s life to spend with her children then all the hard work is worth it.
If we can send a child to therapy or purchase some equipment for the hospital then every cake sale, bag pack, half marathon or sporting dinner is worth it!

What are your most urgent goals?
We are always looking for help to send children to therapy. £600 sends one child to intensive therapy for a week and we have seen the difference it has made in my own daughters progress.

What would make the greatest difference in helping you to achieve your goals for these charities?
Awareness is so important. It’s important particularly with Breast Cancer that we all check ourselves. 55,000 women and 350 men get diagnosed each year so early detection is vital!

What are the main obstacles that stand between you and your mission, and how do you plan to overcome them?
The cost of living crisis means that naturally charities are suffering, however from my own personal experience I can see that people are still very generous and peoples kindness never ceases to amaze me.

What can people do to help and find out more about the charities you help?
People can follow me on Social Media and look out for my events
