The Capers of Cilla
- March 2026
Hola my friends,
What a revealing month I've had! The humans did my DNA test as they knew my oversized ears weren't Galgo ears.
And they were correct! What they didn't expect was that I'm 22% Belgian Malinois, 19% Greyhound, 14% Spanish Greyhound, 13% German Shepherd Dog, 11% Estrela Mountain Dog. Yep, newly Belgian, how marvelous is that. Muy bien Cilla, or is it tres bien now I'm fully European!! So a lot of dog breed googling ensued especially of Malinois and Estrela Mountain Dog. I'm a super intelligent, herding, guard dog... I should be in the police! Elaine says I am far from intelligent so I'm more of a failed police dog, que rude.
What was very evident though, was my colouring and magnificent ears, they are most definitely Belgian Malinois. In fact my surprising ancestry is super handsome and statuesque. Elaine was a little disappointed that I had so little Galgo but mostly shocked that there was no Podenco, they'd taken bets on that.... she's always loved German Shepherds.
The DNA tests are very good, albeit a bit expensive (we paid £85 in a sale) however it did find my brother whom I was rescued with and lots of other distant relatives. We're so glad we did it as now when people shout Dingo, Wild Dog, Lurcher, Podenco, Pharaoh or one of the other hounds at me, I can proudly bark Malinois Greyhound!

Good capers:
DNA, being Belgian (ish), moules frites
Bad capers:
Not being as Spanish as I thought, cotton buds being wiped on my cheeks
