The Capers of Cilla
- June 2026

Hola friends.
Two words sum up my month, dos palabras that all us adolescent dogs dread.... Dog School. Yep Elaine only went and enrolled me in an evening group course. Argh, woof is all I can say in all languages!! The group is small, just 7 dogs, and in the local church hall each Wednesday. It's run by a very experienced trainer (I'll be the judge of that) who is teaching a foundation level in dog manners. Personally I think I'm perfecto at running amok and barking at the postman so why do I need Dog School? Pfft as Doris would have said.

So my first week began with general attention training by raising our doggy eyelines and listening to good words from our owners. A lot of sausage was involved so I pretty much enjoyed this. I also loved the other dogs but not so much the humans. Elaine said it was all good training for me. Apparently I was very well behaved although a total embarrassment when it came to the sit commands at the later end of the lesson. 6 perfectly sat puppies and me, Cilla, standing bolt upright with my bum high, muy bien Cilla. The trainer kindly said I would probably never sit properly and Elaine agreed, she doesn't care so much about tricks, she just wants me happy and attentive.  So 2 weeks of attention training, me raising my gaze to Elaine, me listening out for my name and me charging to attention for high grade treats.... maybe Dog School isn't so bad!!

Good capers: Bum sniffing classmates, high grade treats, standing whenever I like

Bad capers: Not sitting, not listening, not paying attention (all from Elaine!)
