Beryl

Tell me a little about yourself.
My name is Beryl and I’m 9 months old. I love being outside and, whenever I can, I like swimming in puddles and running through mud.

How many humans / siblings do you have and how long have you had them?
I live with my three daddies who are all professional pianists: one daddy is a piano-teacher and two daddies are concert pianists. If I speak nicely to each of them on their own, they’ll each give me a nice doggie sweetie. Sometimes, I feel sick because I’ve eaten too many treats by the end of the day. My doggie-mum and sister live near Lockerbie, but my sister is not very nice. I think she’s jealous of me having the best daddies in the world.

Do you work? If so, where / what to you do?
I’m still a bit young to work, but my favourite job is looking after the squirrels in my favourite park. The squirrels stand at the bottom of trees and wave at me to come over and play. So I run as fast as I can, but then the squirrels just run away. One day they’llstay, and I can play properly with them.

If you could choose your name, what would it be?
I love my name Beryl. But if I had to change it, I would choose the name Pauline.

Where is your favourite place to be?
Apart from my park, I like to squeeze under the couch and hide. I think the couch is beginning to sag a bit, as I’m finding it more and more difficult to get under there now. But, with a push, I can still manage.

What is your favourite way to entertain yourself (annoy your humans)?
When I’m under the couch, there is a lovely long wooden pole. I love chewing on it and making as much noise as I can, so that my daddies can’t hear the tv. I can do that for hours.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
So far, it’s being able to jump onto my daddies’ beds. I can do that now even when they aren’t there. I think they would be really pleased that I can do that.

What is your next goal in life?
When I’m out for a walk, I love to make as many friends as possible. So that I don’t forget anyone, I am going to set up a Facebook page for myself, and I will be able to share lots of photos of me out with my daddies.

If you could be / do anything for a day, what would it be?
My dream would be to find a park that has millions of squirrels in it, and I would be allowed to spend all day there by myself. That would just be the best ever.

Finally and most importantly … What was your human’s most embarrassing moment?
Recently, two of my daddies went out at night without me. One daddy didn’t come home until 3.30 am, and the other daddy didn’t arrive home until 7.30 am. They looked a bit funny, and their eyes were all red. One of them even forgot my name and kept slobbering on me. I didn’t like that very much. Thankfully, my favourite daddy told them to go to bed, so I could carry on sleeping, all cuddled up next to him.
