Duke,,, About Miss Starhound
- April 2023

Hi Readers I'm back!
Sorry for not writing many articles recently my hoomans have been having very busy working weeks and extra busy weekends.

The busy weekends was due to the fact that Star aka my sisfur was diagnosed with cancer in her shoulder March 8th 2022. This unfortunately was also hoodads birthday so not the best present. The vet said it's a big cancer and maybe she would have 8 weeks.

Hoodad recently heard a saying that sums up the last 12 months - Don’t count the days. Make the days count! The plan being to make the most of any time left with Star and to do something every weekend. Star was already slowing down December 2021 and bought a Innopet Hercules buggy to help her. (I have previously written a review on this).

So let me tell you more about Star (Sourcey Lonestar) born 24 June 2008 she raced 41 times won 11 and 2nd 8 times known for being quick away which is handed at Monmore Wolverhampton as the track has a tight first bend. She retired October 2011 as she broke her front foot and was unable to race twice a week. My hoomans adopted November 2011 and quickly added her to Twitter @MissStarhound 6 months after homing Rolo.

When she first came to the house she soon settle down to life with Rolo but walking was sometimes challenging. Now and again Star would just stop and refuse to move even in the middle of crossing the road - a dog trainer taught us 3 good tugs on the lead got her moving again.

She was soon doing one of her favourite things Roaching and often fell asleep in that position twitching her legs.

Star loved representing the breed as much as possible
- Discover Dogs Crufts 9 times and even had her photo with Devon crufts winner 2016 and the trophy.
- Meet and greets for Wolverhampton Greyhound Trust
-4 tweet ups at Bamburgh.

To name a few. So after her cancer diagnosis the days were to be spent on her #NotDeadYetTour.
The National trust card did overtime 39 different places visited.
These visits included - a castle, lighthouse, water gardens, white cliffs and manor houses.

In the last year she got reserve best in show at DogFest, went to a wedding, saw the Queens Jubilee latern lighting, commonwealth games baton relay, watched the triathlon at the commonwealth games, illuminated light trails, met the commonwealth bull and Snowmen art trail.

The Hercules buggy was amazing as Star could walk as much as she wanted to and then relax in the buggy. The buggy also got pimped out with toys from her visits and bunting added for different seasons.

Unfortunately her tour ended 6th March 2023 (364 days after her cancer diagnosis.) she certainly made the days count. I now have to wear my big boy pants and look after the hoomans who are very upset she was with them for nearly 12.5 years the last 4 with me. I will now take a leave out of her tour and have started my #DukesDaysOutTour
