Duke's Great North Tweet Up and less mobile trips
- June 2023

Hi Pals,
The Great North Tweet Up
On Saturday 29th April I was in Northumberland for The Great North Tweet Up 2023. We met in the lower car park of Bamburgh castle for 10.30 for 11am walk. Before the walk hoomans gave their doggie lucky dip and raffle prizes in. There was also the opportunity to but raffle tickets or get the rainbow Bridge remembrance leaflet.

Last year I went onto the beach with Hoomom whilst hoodad stayed at the top with Star ⭐️ 🌈. This year I went onto the beach with hoodad the reason being Mom could hardly walk after straining her left knee ligaments. Hence the title of the article less mobile.

The tweet up was a great success with 35 greyhounds and 14 other dogs (whippets, podenco, galagos, staffie). After an hours walk on the beach we had the raffle and with other donations raised £632 for Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue.

Hoomans and I were staying up in Northumberland for a week and so we had to find ways to visit the great national trust places with a less mobile Hoomom.

Visit 1 - Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal (on way up to Northumberland).
Hoomom used tramper electric buggy - hard concrete paths around the park collection from West Car Park.

Visit 2 -  Wallington
Collection from visitor reception - tramper can go from reception down to the walled gardens and on paths around woodland on hard gravel/dirt paths.

Visit 3 - Cragside
Manual wheelchair and a Shuttle bus from shop-walled garden-house dogs also allowed on the shuttle bus.

Visit 4 Seaton Delaval Hall
Tramper buggy - you can go from reception and around the gardens. Staff give an accessible map avoiding steps into the garden.
My hoomon also used the tramper at Shugborough national trust (Staffordshire) and my French grandpawrents have used a 2 person buggy around Stowe National Trust (Buckinghamshire)

You can find out if a national trust site has a wheelchair or tramper in the access tab on the national trust app. The app also tells you how to book them although most are bookable by email 48hours in advance.

Most sites tend to have 1 or 2 buggies (Shugborough, Staffordshire) has 4 or 5.

The good news is Hoomoms knee is starting to feel better but she was really grateful for the free use of trampers when we were away.

Until next time
Love and licks
Duke xx
