Duke reviews National Trust Pooch Passport
- March 2024

As you know my hoomans love the National Trust and more to the point I love visiting them even though it often means lots of walking. Being a lazy hound walking is hard work for me.

The national trust have been running a great pooch passport from 1st September 2023 until 29th February 2024.

The passport is designed to get dogs and their owners visiting properties on the selected list of 29 places in London and the South East.
On presenting the passport on admission a special stamp is added into the passport. So my hoomans thought about it . I live in Birmingham (West Midlands) and this is for London and the South East. But I am lucky as grandpops lives in Kent. This meant some visits could be done direct from home and others would mean a trip to see grandpops and then day trips from there.

This is my first completed book visits included - Rudyard Kiplings house - Batemans (East Sussex, the amazing Stowe gardens (Buckinghamshire) I went when the walking with Giants exhibit was on. Winston Churchills house (Chartwell, Kent), Beautiful Emmetts Garden, the huge and beautiful Waddesdon Manor - I went when Christmas lights and house decorations were on Hughenden(Buckinghamshire) when I saw multiple red kite birds of prey.

On getting a full passport book you get a treat from the National trust Partner - Forthglade - so at Hughenden I got a lovely pack of salmon and herring soft bite treats.

This meant a new passport book was issued and planning of new day trips out and 6 more properties to visit.

The first visit was Cliveden (Buckinghamshire) which I last visit on Hoodads big birthday last year. He says it was 40 but I know it was 50 at least it wasn't snowing this time. Greys court (Oxfordshire was the last of a busy 3 property day (Hughenden-Clivedon-Greys court) so I had to have my photo taken a Greyhound in front Greys court.

Then the next 3 stamps were another very tiring day - Ightom Mote (Kent) walked round the gardens I hadn't been into when I went in 2019.

Then off to Polesden Lacy (Surrey) nice grounds to walk round and saw my first snow drops of the year.

I then visited the dog friendly cafe but it was too cold for a Judes dog friendly Ice cream they sell. I looked sweetly at mom and she gave me some of her sausage roll.

I then went to Box Hill Surrey that was up some twisty corners up hill-apparently - I was asleep in the car. The view would be great but it started raining.

My last stamp in the second book was to Basildon Park (Berkshire) after we had been to see more snow drops at Stowe Gardens. Basildon park has been used in lots of films and has a great dog friendly cafe.

Another 6 stamps meant another lovely gift this time was a bandana with a reflective strip on it.

I loved the passport so hoodad decided to see what effort I had done to get my bandana.

6 counties visited
2 visits to Grandpops (Kent weekend trips)
7 days out visiting
1866 miles in the Dukemobile

Hooded has completed the feedback questionnaire and is hoping the national trust will do this in other counties.

Until next time
Love and licks
