Lucy and Nelson - On the Move
September 2026
Hola Amigos/woof hello Buddies
We are Lucy and Nelson from #ERSRemovals back again and checking in with all our Furry Amigos, what have we been up to? Well woof secert dog stuff bol
Lucy: Well One of our Homans has broken his hip so thats ouch and means he has this strange walker thing.
But we sent two of our Hoomans, Ashley and mum to see the Ribbon Race with the big super dogs.
Nelson: Oops bol. Ashley says they are called Horse Lucy not super dogs
Lucy: So what is the Ribbon Race?
Nelson: Well a Ribbon Race Lucy is not a race in the sense the horses and their homans are not directly racing, they run one at a time with a Pen in hand yes Lucy I said a Pen.
The pen is mightier than the sword. Insert that joke bol. Any way yes a Pen which they try to get into the tiny ring attached to the ribbon. To win a ribbon though, they need to keep hold of the ribbon, dislodging is not enough.
Lucy: How often does Turre have a ribbon Race?
Nelson: 2 times a year. Once in August and once in October at the town Ferria.
Lucy: And are all the riders Male?
Nelson: Yes they are Lucy, from what I can gather, Turre has been having a ribbon race for 400 plus years.
The Ribbon race either grow out of a form of medieval Jousting for a ladies affection or always was that as when they capture a Ribbon they as in the Rider (this is Lucy the now as well) present it to a Lady who puts it on them.
And yes LUCY every time they capture a ribbon the Town band plays.
Lucy: How Long Is the ribbon race?
Nelson: Well Lucy, it can go on for quite a while as it carries on until all the Ribbons have been won. And as said that means catching and keeping hold of the race.
Lucy: What is unusual about Turre Ribbon Race?
Nelson: Well in our area many places have a Ribbon Race once a year, turre has it as Said Lucy Twice a year, and as we understand in many areas of Spain the Ribbon Races no longer happen but don’t 100% quote us on that as that’s more from what we can gather
