About:
Situated in the Northumberland National Park in the pretty village of Harbottle, this single storey cottage is a great base from which to explore the surrounding area including National Trust’s Cragside, The Cheviot Hills, Kielder Water & Forest, Hadrian’s Wall Country and the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its many castles. The small, traditional town of Rothbury is 15 minutes away with a good range of amenities, and the county town of Alnwick famous for Harry Potter films, its castle and gardens with tree house restaurant, is 30 minutes away. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Jedburgh, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Coldstream are all about an hour’s drive, and the Scottish Borders are within easy reach. Newcastle has an International Airport and Port of Tyne has regular ferry crossings to/from Amsterdam. There is a local bus running a rural service between Rothbury and Harbottle.

Drakestone Cottage was newly refurbished in 2017/18 and fully redecorated in early 2020. It is beautifully presented, very well equipped and furnished to a 4* standard with everything you should need for your stay. It sleeps 1-4 guests in two bedrooms (one double room and one twin room with adult sized bunk beds) and welcomes up to two dogs.
