About:
Northumberland is the least densely populated county in England, with only 62 people per square kilometre, it has a deep and rich heritage from numerous battles, coalfields and coastal fishing villages.

Set in the heart of Northumberland, ideally located for the rolling countryside, dramatic coastlines and impressive castles, Sycamore Cottage is located in Barrasford, a pretty and quiet village which sits along the river North Tyne which runs from Kielder reservoir, an ancient village lying in the shadow of Haughton Castle.

Eight miles south of Barrasford is Hexham and its rich in history, including the Abbey which originated as a monastery founded by Wilfrid in 674, the crypt of the original monastery survives, and incorporates many stones taken from nearby Roman ruins. The current Hexham Abbey dates largely from the 11th century onward, but was significantly rebuilt in the 19th century.
