Sparky and Nelly visit... Pippins Park Caravan Park
- August 2024
Hiya Pals
Last month we took the tiny-house-on-wheels to Pippins Park in Northumberland. A small, idyllic site, it is situated in gorgeous, well-kept grounds with pawnoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It has eight hardstanding pitches for motorhomes, caravans and campervans only (no tents), and each pitch has electric hook-up with plenty space for an awning.
Pets are welcome too at no extra charge. The site has the added bonus of being open all year as well as having a small gift shop on site.
However, you will need to use your own facilities as there are no toilets or shower facilities. There is a chemical waste point and a grey waste area.
There’s plenty of walks nearby and a path from the site takes you through the adjacent fields to nearby woods and to Embleton, a village a mile or so away. The beach is approximately a couple of miles.
Now, if like my dad, you like trains, the East Coast main line is nearby with trains passing in view of the site. So if it’s your thing then you can sit back, relax and enjoy watching trains go by. Now dad, who’s a train driver, says the real excitement came when he saw one of his own freight trains passing.
You will also hear trains tooting throughout the day as there is a whistle board (in fact there’s two) for the foot crossings. Now mum didn’t know what a whistle board was and so dad took it upon himself to explain it to her; a whistle board is a sign signalling train drivers to sound their horn, it’s purely to warn people of approaching trains as the footpath, a right of way, goes over the track.
Exciting stuff, BOL!
