Hi Pals,
It has been all go here recently. The gas board has been renewing all of the gas pipes in the town and it was our turn.
In some ways I was curious as there were a lot of new people in the street to bark ast, although my humans kept me inside and only letting me out attached to my human on lead in case someone left the gate open.
They first set out traffic lights, which started the chaos before they even dug a hole. Then they built their compounds for the machinery to sit when not in use. This is to keep anyone away from them all.
Now this is where is was surprising for me and may be interesting for you all. I was expecting long trenches being dug up so they could find the existing gas pipes and replace them all with new pipes. What the actually did was to dig a hole in the street where my gas pipe joined the main supply and dig another hole where the pipe sticks out of the ground just before going into our gas meter.
I didn’t like that as they used concrete cutting tools that were very noisy and vibrated throughout the house.
They then used something to make the new pipe move underground from the hole in the street to the hole near my meter.
I didn’t like that part as there was some weird thumping that vibrated through the ground.
Once the gas pipes were securely fitted and checked at each end, the holes were filled in and the paving or concrete was replaced. I was trying o get my paw prints in the concrete outside in my garden but my humans would not let me…. Spoil sports!
Once our house had been completed, The gate was locked and secured again. I was then able to go out and watch the workers, with the occasional bark of support. BOL!
Overall it took about a month for them to move to the next street, although there are still traffic lights and machinery working around the area. So on our walks we still have to be careful.
Hopefully things will get back to normal here soon.
Until next month
Nose bump to you
