Tigger's Tails

Hi Pals,
Leading to my back door there is a small hallway with another door. This would be great for reducing drafts if a certain lovable lurcher did not constantly want to the door opened and closed. BOL!
So a few years back in the lead up to winter my human would hang a curtain in an attempt to keep the warmth in and the cold out, without having to get up and down every two minutes to let me in and out.
Normal curtains never seemed to be the right thickness or length/width. So my human decided to make one. This would make sure the curtain fit, plus easier to wash by using a more washable friendly fabric.
My human eventually found a suitable fabric from an unusual source. A king sized cotton quilt cover that was on the reduced counter. It only cost £6. Luckily my human was able to fold it into three to create the perfect size needed. So the blanket is actually 6 fabric thick.
The curtain does make an amazingly huge difference with keeping the house warmer while I am running in and out. Even just stepping behind the curtain in winter to open the back door, you can feel a vast reduction in temperature.
Being 6 layers of fabric it is easily washed in the washing machine. Although it does take a little bit longer to fully dry.
I have to say that is did take me ages to get used to pushing through the curtain. Now I am confident enough to do it at speed. Although the occasional thunk of me hitting the door frame with my head does happen. BOL!
This year my human had another idea, this time to make a net curtain to use in the warmer months. This was to help let the fresh air circulate throughout the house and more importantly to keep the buzzers out of the house. The trick to make sure the net curtain fits exactly, if it is too long, fold and sew the top, rather than cutting the bottom.
After using the net curtain since April, I can confirm it was a great success. Only 2 buzzers and a stingy buzzer got in. Yeah!
Nose bump to you
