Tigger's Tails
- April 2026

Hi Pals, As you know I am always stargazing to see what interesting things I can see.
In March I was lucky enough to see the International Space Station.
Now I know it passes overhead frequently and I should have seen it by now, but it is not as easy as you think.

The international Space Station is around the size of a football field (soccer field), which does sound huge and does make it possible for us to see it with the naked eye.
Unfortunately the surface of the earth is over 95 billion football fields. So spotting it becomes a lot more difficult.

Even when I knew the International Space Station was due to pass overhead, I needed to know what sort of direction I needed to be looking.

I eventually discovered, even though it has been around a while, NASA’s website with the Spot The Station section. NASA even has a Spot The Station App. I downloaded the app onto my phone.

There are lots of great features including alerts that give you warnings of when the station is going to go overhead, or near enough for you to see it. It even had an Augmented Reality that overlays a drawing representation of where the station is and it’s flight path. You just move the phone around until you are looking in the correct direction.
It seems easy to use, well lets face it, I can use it. BOL!
Here are a couple of pictures I managed to take of the International Space Station and the moon. The white smudge on the left is the International Space Station. The big white thing in the bottom right is a lamp post.

Nose bump to you
