Tigger's Tails
- September 2026
Hi Pals,
My humans spent weeks going on about a partial solar eclipse that was coming to the UK. As a Lurcher I am built entirely for speed and aerodynamic lounging. So I got a bit excited as I assumed it was some sort of event we would go to, that would have food to eat and smells to sniff. I was so wrong, it was a much weirder event.
The day started normally with my usual routine of eat, sleep and repeat. I took my human for their morning walk and returned to even more of my eat, sleep and repeat routine.
Then in the evening my human started standing outside. I was excited at first as I thought I was going on an extra bonus walk, but no, they just stood there staring into the distance. At first I thought there was something in the distance, so stood scanning the area for whatever they were looking at, and the possibility of barking at it. I couldn't see anything so I tried jumping around and fetching some toys outside to get their attention but they just stood there staring into the distance. How rude!
Then the strangest thing happened! It got really cold very quickly and it started to get darker. I started shivering, I don’t know if it was from the sudden drop in temperature or the fear of this strangeness going on. The birds even stopped their annoying tweeting, which was even stranger as it has never been so quiet during the day before. It all felt so other worldly to me. I did try to stay outside with my human, but it was all getting a bit much for me, so I beat a hasty retreat to the safety of my sofa indoors and my other human. My other human was interested in the strangeness going on outside, but preferred to watch from the comfort of their chair. Which was also much warmer than being outside. They are so wise at times.
Just as I was beginning to think this new alternative reality was not as good as the actual reality before, I was thinking I had better start getting used to it all. Then just as I was starting to accept this new alternative reality, the sky suddenly went brighter and the temperature quickly rose again, normal reality was restored!
Phew! I need a lie down!
Until next month
Nose bump to you
